Her artistic influences include Wassily Kandinsky, Vincent van Gogh, and Salvador Dalí, among others. She is particularly drawn to Expressionism, Impressionism, and Surrealism. Cata's inspiration comes from a variety of sources such as Colombia, Hawaii, Cubism, action painting, Julio Verne, nature, animals, love, music, life, movies, moments, family and Medellín her city.
Since 2002, Cata has created approximately 300 art pieces using mixed materials. Her work includes canvas paintings with vibrant colors, textured paper paintings with graphic interventions and collages in various formats, some used materials are with Crystals, diamonds and antiques. She often works with oils, pastels, colored pencils, Chinese inks and acrylics.
Cata has exhibited her work in several countries including Chile, Miami and Madrid as well as her native Colombia. She has also worked as a freelance graphic designer and fashion designer for prominent Colombian brands creating original fashion collections. In addition to her professional work she enjoys giving back to her community by teaching art and inclusion at foundations and schools.
Cata is the founder of Art Love Studio and Gallery which she describes as her personal dream project since 2000. It is a space where she shares her love for art and color experiences while teaching others how to channel their emotions through art and music. Her classes are filled with love and she believes that everyone can learn.
At Art Love Studio you can find paintings as well as product designs such as t-shirts, mugs, hoodies, cushions, dresses, shoes and posters with positive messages. In the future Cata hopes to use her studio to support the work of other artists.
In her personal life Cata is a devoted mother who loves spending time with her daughter Celeste, who is learning art and music from her. They share many special moments together. Cata also enjoys cooking and creating artistic dishes with colorful home recipes which she shares on her creative blog.
Cata describes herself as empathic, dreamer, sensitive, loyal, and positive. She sees herself as a simple person with a sense of humor who sees hearts. She is a woman who has only love for this world.
Currently Cata is working on producing clothing designs including colorful paintings and hoodies based on magical moments that she wants to share with us all. In August we can expect to see a limited edition of her collection.
